Consumers Seeking Mortgage Advice On Significant Increase

According to unbiased.co.uk, a jump from 36,000 to 45,000 in mortgage advice inquiries has taken place comparing this half of the year to same time of 2009.
This represents a 24 per cent increase from last year to this year, and the greatest number of inquiries were from first time buyers looking for advice. Karen Barrett, the chief executive of unbiased.co.uk thinks the good news in the mortgage market during the past year has prompted all the new frenzy to seek advice. Aside from the higher LTVs resurfacing, there are more competitive deals and new and existing borrowers are planning for their financial future. She said: "In parallel to these positive moves within the industry, consumers have started regaining their confidence in the housing market." She added: "We believe that the tumultuous period we have been through have led to more people seeking expert advice on their mortgage rather than going it alone, a very positive sign for consumers and mortgage advisers alike. Now is the time for mortgage advisers to up their marketing activity to be at the forefront of this regained consumer confidence."
