There had been a hope of seeing first time buyers return to the housing market sooner rather than later.  However, it is likely that any boost of home sales by first time buyers will have to wait. The weather is not expected to be favorable for house hunting for almost a month.  The UK and Wales are grasped in a current forecast of strong winds and snow with dangerously cold temperatures.

House hunting for many will be deterred with such cold temperatures.  Rather than searching for a new home, people will be huddled in their current one trying to keep warm and avoid the outside. There is the option of searching online sites for possible candidates and making a favorites list for narrowing down when the weather is more favorable, which many are expected to do.

Meanwhile it may be a good time for home sellers that have easy to warm properties to point out such favorable highlights such as quick to warm, cheap to keep warm, or numerous fireplaces.  Anyone sitting at home in a drafty rental or owned home could consider a future winter without feeling chilled to the bone a good reason to go house shopping.  Such thoughtful additions to an online listing of a house could help propel it from the “for sale” category to “sold” while winds hit against the frozen windows outside.

The good news is that spring is around the corner and winter will soon shed away and reveal sunny and more favorable house shopping days.  At that point lenders are expected to still have low interest rate offers on both mortgages and remortgages.
