UK Citizens Unfortunately Stressed with Debt
An eye opening 40 per cent of adults in the UK worry about debt, according to R3, the insolvency trade organisation. Believe it or not, this equals a total of 19 million people. Credit card loans topped the list at 51 per cent, while overdrafts of accounts concerned 32 per cent of those surveyed. Mortgage loans and bank loans came in a respectable third and fourth place, both at 19 per cent.
London gets the nod with respect to debt stressing out its residents at 50 per cent. Those in the North East and North West followed the Capital city region where 44 per cent of people had financial concerns. People living in the East of England exhibited the least amount of stress about debt owed at 33 per cent. This data prompted the president of R3, Steven Law, to comment on how so many people are worried about debt, saying: "It is alarming, but not surprising that so many people are worried about their debt. The research shows how debt has become a fact of adult life, starting with a student loan and eventually graduating to a mortgage, credit cards and loans. "However, seeing debt as a way of life can lead to years of worries about financial stability. People who feel that they are struggling with personal debt should seek professional advice on managing their household budget early." Some other alarming data was recently reported by uSwitch.com regarding quality of life. Apparently people of the UK experience a worse quality of life than others living in any other European country. These results were discovered based on factors such as living costs and late retirement.
